Not sure about the MOT but could affect your insurance.
no. airbags are not tested on an mot. not every car has airbags. you may get a vt32 advisory notice reminding you that the light stays on. not sure how you stand with insurance.
All modifications affect insurance.
Take the bulb out
david1702198 is right, the airbag is not part of the MOT test, but there are very strong rumours that it soon will be.
I had a T reg saxo a few years ago and had same problem, bit the citroen mechanic told me there is a wire that runs under drivers seat, a black one, if you just bend it and straighten it, for some reason it knock the light off!
Why would you want to take the airbag out in the first place? Do you know how many deaths and serious injuries they prevent?

Especially in younger drivers who need all the protection they can get :)

ive changed the standard steering wheel to a aftermarket one because the standard one looks terrible and the rest of my car have is modified (racing seats etc.) so it will match - i understand what you mean though that young drivers do need to protect themselves.
