I once had a recipe (if that's the right word) for making carpet freshener using baking soda and something else, but I have forgotten what the 'something else' is. Can anyone help?

Just use the baking soda on its own. Sprinkle it on the carpet, leave it overnight, and vacuum it off in the morning.
