Does anybody know what can get rid of thrush once and for all. I've been to the doctors loads of timeas two weeks out of every month I seem to get bad thrush. The doctors have taken swabs and tested them for stds but they confirmed thrush they have also tested me for diabetes but it came back clear. The doctor has treated both me and my husband but it still keeps coming back. I do all the usual things to try and avoid it and all the doctors do is keep giving me a pessary which clears it for a week or two then it comes back. Thanx in advance for any feedback you can give.

hey
you may have candida, which means you are really suscetable to thrush. you can change your diet and reduce the amount of yeast you eat and this will reduce the chance of the thrush returning. have a look at this
http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/fram eset/article/140.html
there is loads of info out there, just google candida, and anti-candida diets.
i went to my local health food shop and they explained all the above to me, i went in cause i got sick of it returning and wondered if it was anything in my diet that was causing it. they recommended i follow the candida diet and also take this vile stuff called Molkosan, which is a liquid you add to water. it helps balnce out all the bacteria in your body and discourage thrush from returning. as i said, it tastes disgusting but it really helps. once its cleared up, make sure your husband is treated too cause you could just end up going round in circles!
if your still unsure go to your local health food shop and have a chat, their advice helped me no end.

The treatment from the doctor will only clear the symptoms, it won't stop whatever is causing the problem. Have you had strong anti-biotics before the first outbreak? That was the cause of mine, but then it would come back at around the same time of every monthly cycle, and then clear when my period started (sorry if i'm being a little graphic). In the end, I saw a homeopath who prescribed a remedy and i had to follow a yeast and sugar free diet for a while. That cleared the problem. I don't have to watch the diet now, it was like i needed some sort of detox. It was a homeopath that used a vega allergy testing machine, and she was very good, really knew what she was doing. See if you know anyone that can recommend a homepath, or just try the diet and see how it goes. Also, make sure you are not anaemic as that can make you more prone to thrush, i believe.
