What would you do? My partner is in the process of selling his house, the survey was done yesterday and it should all go through in a few more weeks. We live in my rented flat so are paying rent and rates and c tax (council flat) So we are paying a mortgage til house goes through and also rent on our flat, but we have seen the most perfect house, its everything we want and in a good area, great for the boy etc, but terrified it will be bought before ours goes through. We don't want to rush things and get into a total muddle with not having had one house go through and buying another, but if it gets bought we will be really upset. What would you do?? I would love to know what other people would do in my position. Would it be really risky? ARGGHHH!! Thanks in advance (if anyone answers!!)

There are lots of people digging themselfs big holes to fall into, because they want what they want yesterday , it sounds like you may be digging yours unless you stop and think what you may be doing!!!!
Put an offer in on the house you like, start the ball rolling, as long as you sign your new house paper after you've sold your old house its fine, this is what happens all the time. if for some reason your current house fell through then you would at that point have to let your dream house go. A solicitor would confirm all this. but go for it, house prices are only going to go up. :))
i agree with dimwithwit - as the average sale takes 12 weeks to complete, your current house should be sold at least 1 month before you complete on the new property, so go for it!
If your boyfriends house is "sold" then go ahead and make an offer and all being well it will go without a hitch and you will get the house of your dreams. If it all falls thro' you will just have to start again...this is why buying and selling property is sooo stressful...but good luck!
