Sour early English Apples

Recently bought some early English Discovery apples. They are so sour that they are inedible. Can anybody suggest what I can do to ripen them up. Think they were picked far too early.

Hi WendyS - put a ripe banana in with them, this should help ripen them quickly.
Or a ripened tomato... place them in a paper bag with a few holes cut in it, but only one layer... do not stack them one on top of the other... place them in a warm but dark place... a corner of your counter will do. Be sure to check them often. Even with these directions, your apples may not amount to much. An apple that's picked to early will not develop the ethylene neccessary for proper ripening and flavor development. They may tend to shrivel even if ripening somewhat...
