I'm going to Mongolia via China in a few days time, and have had to get a double entry visa although I am only in transit going out, and won't go out of the airport terminal. Would imagine it's similar for ships, but don't know for sure.
if you are going on a official tour from the ship, the ship should take care of any visas required for entry into china, they did for us on a lot of cruises to china, russia and egypt.check with your cruise company or look on their website,if you intend making your own plans for the day and do your own tour, you will have to arrange your own visas
Norman is right. We have been on many cruises and on entering a country that you need a visa, Customs will come aboard and issue them.
We never go on official tours and they have always given us visas where they are needed. We do our own thing in every port.
