Would it be possible to set up temporary sections for fads (I'm obviously thinking specifically of Harry Potter) which will eventually go away but currenly jam up the whole site? I don't come on here nearly as often as I used to because itfeels like a harry potter web page information service. Plus the same questions get asked insistently and jam up the system so the interesting non-repreated questions get moved from the front page mmuch too fast.

Good idea MMM. We could have one for Marlboro questions as well!
A good idea in theory, but it relies on people posting in the right category (which some people seem to find difficult to do) - see the questions either side of this one.

That's true, but if there were categories entitles 'Marlboro' or 'Harry' it might focus their minds a little, and might reduce the number of boring repeated questions about what to do with the magic trousers in home and garden, for example. One can only hope. Also, if they're directed here by typing 'marlboro quiz' into google, at the moment they think 'oooh, a site where other people look up answers for you' and type their question totally disregarding the way in which the site works. If they see a section entitled 'harry' they may actually lok in it, find what they're looking for and leave the good people of answerbank alone.

incidentally, I was terrified that this had been suggested many times before and that I was going to be thoroughly and rightly slated by the AB world at large for my hypocrisy. However, i am proud to say that I diligently perused the 'has your question already been answered' section before posting, and unless the phraseology was totally different I think I'm safe. Now there's tempting fate for you. If anyone is bored enough I challenge you to defy me.
*Ahem* Click here.
MikeMikeMike - a fair question but one that might cause more problems than it solves, for the reasons others have noted. I spend more of my day than I careto think, moving questions to their correct categories. Hence the desire to keep things as simple as possible!
