Im very concerned at the moment about my pregnancy so decide to make use of all the numbers I have for my midwife team. Pfft! What a waste of time! My concern is, after a few weeks of suffering just about every symptom going, they have all seem to have faded away at 8 weeks.......the cravings, the sickness, the need to pee 3 or 4 times a night, my tummy no longer feels as solid.........its really playing on my mind and looking up stuff on the internet has only made it worse! So now I have contacts numbers after having had my booking in appointment last week, I decided to call the one it tells you to call if you have pregnancy related problems or queries.

I explained to whoever it was who answered the phone ( hard to believe it was a midwife!) Her response? ...... "Well, you might be alright, if youre really worried about it go and see your doctor"..............out of the two......who would you have contacted first when youre worried.....the doctor who will only send you to see the midwife.......or the midwife?!

Oh look........theres a brick wall......excuse me while I go and bang my head against it!!

Can anyone out there offer me some advice or reasurrance?

unfortunately I am in the same predicament as you. I'm 22 weeks pregnant last saw my midwife on May 30th and dont see her again until August 7th. I'm in there 5 minutes hardly takes any notice of what I'm saying then sends me on my way again.

As for your concerns. Everyone's symptoms disappear at different rates. My sickness went at 14 weeks. You wont need to wee as much as you'll probably find that your uterus has now come out of the pelvic area and not pressing on your bladder as much. as for your stomach feeling solid, I have an upside down lump all big at the top and hard and mushy at the bottom so I think it may just be that your baby is now moving around and is laying further back now it has more room. I wouldn't worry but if your are book an appointment to see your midwife so she can re-assure you that your ok. Take care. xxx

Thanks for the reassurance spanner. I have spent most of the morning looking through different websites for indications as to why Im feeling.....or should I say not feeling......like this. Sadly they all just keep mentioning miscarriage :(
I think the problem now is, where as with my daughter I was assigned to just one midwife, Im now assigned to a team of four or five! So you cant get to know them like you used to. I think I will try and call again tomorrow and hope I get the midwife I see for my booking in appointment.

Thanks again.
do you have an early pregnancy unit at your hospital? Why dont you try them if your concerned they can book you in for a scan to reassure you. Tell them you have tried to speak with your midwife but she's not helping and that you need reassurance as does everyone that everything is ok. Your probably ok and your symptoms have just gone early. good luck, keep us posted. x

It would definately be nice if they have gone already! lol

My nearest hospital hasnt even got an A&E! let alone an early pregnancy unit. lol

The "midwife" I spoke to this morning was at the hospital where I have to go to for my scans and delivery and thats some distance. It wasnt even one of the midwives I have been assigned to.........or are they assigned to me? lol Hopefully tomorrow I can catch one of my midwives at my local hospital in the morning ( you can only call them betwee 8-9 am!)

I will try my local
blimey thats horrendous. good luck let us know what they say.

Well,I got to speak to the midwife that booked me in last week and explained everything and she reassured me everything was fine and to stop worrying. It perfectly normal for me to be feeling like this and for the symptoms to have gone.......I just seem to have been lucky that they havent gone on for too long!
I said what was said yesterday and she just laughed, agreeing with me that the doctor would only send me to the midwife anyway!
Anyway, she reassured me that if something had happened, I would know about it!
So panic over and Im going to catch up on some of the sleep I have lost over this!! (I'll still worry thought! lol)
I didn't even know you were pregnant! I remember you asking about tests etc...but can't remember you letting us know the result, Psychick... :o)

My only advice to you is do NOT look on the internet regarding worries of this nature. You scare yourself witless! glad all is well.

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS xxxxx
Question Author
Yes I have learnt that one Pippa!! lol

Thanks for the congrats.........only 8 weeks gone though.....so long to go! lol
Oh I know..that's the problem nowadays...we find these things out so early on!

My mum harks back to the days when you didn't find out until you were about 14 weeks gone.

This is the problem I think...........with my daughter all was finally confirmed etc and I was 16 weeks! lol

This time I just knew before I even had a positive test.

Just thinking, Ive been worried at all the symptoms going....but Ive been have lower back pain for a few days so its not all rosey after all! lol
I had that with my first one, Psychick..my midwife told me it was all my ligaments softening (yes, that early on!)

You may well have had the same with your first too, but as you didn't know until later you can dismiss aches and pains as something else.

Now you know you are preggers you will experience every little niggle ;o)
glad all is ok hun. I agree with Pippa, dont read the internet it's full of scary things and everyone is different.
Question Author
Thanks spanner, yes I think I learnt that one the hard way! lol
aw psychick if i believed everything i read on internet i would have many rare diseases. my hubby does dispair of me at times. im worse with kids. Diganosed my eldest with measles/ scabies the other day which when he looked turned out to be mosquito bites lol. Tramatised my son. If you have any worries i would keep harrasing the midwifes as sometimes they can be to relaxed and forget that just because they do it everyday doesnt mean you do. Good luck and keep us posted xxxx
