Thanks will try it twinny
If it is the same type of sticky mess that is left by e.g. a L.plate or windscreen sticker then i have found that the best solution is (no wise cracks please) nail varnish REMOVER and then polish in the normal way.
It really depends what chemical base the sticky stuff is. Personally, I wouldn't use T cut on the first attempt and certainly not nail varnish remover, which is cellulose based - probably the same as your car's paint. It would certainly remove the sticky marks and probably some of the paint as well !

I would first use hot soapy water and a cloth. If that didn't work then I would use white spirit on a cloth. This should do the trick and won't harm the paint if washed off with soapy water.
You can get "Sticky Stuff remover" which is basically Orange Oil this will work 9/10 with no effects on the paintwork - I'm Sainsbury's do it and Wilkos and B&Q too.

Sometimes a hairdryer can help it come off too.
white spirit works everytime.

For future reference; WD40 and lighter fluid (not together!) work pretty well too.
