I went to see 'The Return of the King' last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. That is apart from the bizarre homoerotic undertones in Jackson's direction. Why did he feel the need to have Frodo and Sam gazing lovingly into each other's eyes half the time?? Don't remember that in the books!

In my seriously educated opinion, i believe that Tolken did not mean for the hobbits to be gay but that Peter Jackson had some deep dark hidden feelings about hairy little men that he needed to get out of his system. Therefore some very gay hoggart (hobbit) scenes.
I so hear you D.G.W.P.H. You must indeed be a very wise man!
D.G.W.T.H, I would have to agree with you. I am a short hairy man who attended the premiere of the Return of the King in Wellington. I met Peter here and we had a lovely date at the conclusion of the movie. He hasnt returned any of my calls though! I feel so used!!!
OK I see the homosexual thing too, but do you guys not see it is just as pronounced with Merry and Pippin? I beleive there must either be a homosexual writer or director etc. The main thing I have noticed in writing from a homosexual view is male/female relationships are more "romatisized" or have unrealistic expectations while the gay ones are more intimate.
