I wonder if any one can help, my little boy has been going to creche since he was 6 months old, he will be 3 in August, starting nursery school in September. I told the creche in the middle of June that I wanted to finish him there at the end of the month, to keep him home for a few weeks b4 he starts school. After phoning them last week to say my son would not be going in that day due to croop, I was told that I would have to pay for the full month of July because I didnt give a calander months notice, this means I will have to pay 300.00 for July when he wont be attending. Am I liable to pay these fees? I cant remember signing a contract when he first started.

ask them if you can see the contract. iam a childminder and i would insist on one full months notice, but all my parents have signed a contract stating this. otherwise i would be left with a reduced income, unless i could fill the place in two weeks and that would be highly unlikely. i suppose it depends on how big trhe creche is.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate that the owners are running a business and a huge one at that!. They also have a waiting list so Im sure my sons place will be taken. I gave notice on the 18th June so surely 4 weeks notice from there would take me to 16th July. If they want a full calander months notice from 1st July that means I have to pay for a 5 month. I am going to ask to see the contract (if there is one).
yeah sorry thats what i meant 4 weeks notice, not a calendar month:-)
Well what exactly are they gonna do if you dont pay? Nothing
If you dont pay they will take you to court for the fees (providing there is a contract in place) i work for one of the largest nursery providers in the UK and we charge for one months notice as we have to fill the place of the child leaving.

thank you. I am willing to pay and have paid 4 weeks notice from the day i informed them that I wanted my son to end there. But I gave my notice in the middle of the month and They wanted the notice to start at the beginning of the next month, then surely they wanted 6 weeks notice.
