Sad music

What is the name of the sad music that is always played as background music on the radio when they are reciting a (usually funny!) but unhappy story?? It was also used in a Volkswagen advert a few years ago showing cars with sort of sad faces that had had things done to them such as massive air intakes fitted to the bonnet.

Don't recall the advert, but the Love Theme from Zefferelli's "Romeo & Juliet" is often used in such circumstances - it was used in Simon Bates' "Our Tune" feature.

Yup. It was the tune Simon "Master" Bates used to pationisingly talk over whilst cashing in on other people's misery.
