my 6 yr old is about to lose her 3rd and 4th milk tooth. When she lost her first one she didnt even notice as it came out whilst she was eating. With the second she didnt nothing but whinge about it and wouldnt let me get near her! Now shes losing the top two front ones and she is even worse!
Am I being a mean mummy in thinking she is just being a wimp? I can remember losing my milk teeth...I was always tugging and twisting them to get them out quicker. I cant recall them hurting.
Any parents out there whose children have had/are having the same problems?
Have I just blanked out the pain myself?

Thanks in advance :)

Oh....Im a nice person really! lol

i'm not a parent ...but i used to love it when my teeth cane out when i was little! I used to et them hang on until the very last thread! I dont recall it hurting - apart from the time i tugged and tugged at a tooth until it became loose!! I do always remeber it being a bit of a shock though - even when it had been wobbly for weeks!!
I didn't have any pain with my front teeth falling out, I just remember the waiting for it to happen was the most frustrating thing at that age.

They don't hurt if they are left alone to fall out naturally when they are ready, or like you said in her food....

Just don't be in too much of a hurry to finish her 'left over' apple or chocolate chip muffin. ;o)

lol nannon........that reminds me of how much I used to love showing my teeth hanging by the last thread!

Seems I definately have a drama queen on my hands here then!

Im traditional and tradition is the tooth fairy gives out silver coins!

5p it is! lol
Hi Psychick - My kids are at about the same stage - older one has lost 4 bottom teeth (2 new ones are in) and the top two are on their way - little one has lost and replaced 2 bottom. With boys boys, their bottom two new teeth came in before the old ones fell out and I think they both had a bit of pain, but mainly from the new ones rather than the old ones - also, the old ones were pushed forward rather than up, so their mouths did bleed when the teeth eventually came out. they looked weird with 2 layers on the front. Elder boys next two came out with no complaint - but they have left gaps with no new tooth already there. Top two are now sticking forward and are not that wobbly really, but again, his new teeth have already come through behind the old ones - we may get a bit of drama when they come out.

It is costing me a pound a time - 2 already this week!

Ah thank you so much annie! That does make sense! And makes me feel bad for telling to stop whining lol

That reminded me that the 2nd one she lost did have the other one already growing through and the old used to bang on the new. Maybe it is happening again and thats why shes finding it painful!

I had better go be a nice mummy now and give her some sympathy! lol
On the other hand she might be playing you for sympathy - stick with the hard routine, it will harden her up for the future! lol - I give as little sympathy as I can in the hope that they won't turn in to those men that call an ambulance when they get a cold! haha.

ah, you mean MOST men? lol

Shes happy at the moment so will stick with what Ive said to her so far.......do feel guilty about earlier though lol

Not going to stop me offering to knock her teeth out though! lol
I did resort to the tweezers to help the last couple on their way - there was no protest!

So nearly a week later, the tooth has finally come out!!
I had said if it hadnt come out by bedtime tonight, I was going to pull it out myself while she slept!
She has realy played up on it and barely eaten the past two days and I was at my wits end with her!

Great that its come out at last........but the one next to it is close behind to coming out .........here we go again :(
