A friend of mine was told that the Open Day due to be held on Thursday 28th June was cancelled because of flooding. She has reason to doubt whether the person who told her this was telling the truth, can anyone confirm whether this is the case and whether the area around Stafford Uni is flooded.

No idea but does it matter now she has missed it anyway? Here are the dates of their other open days http://www.staffs.ac.uk/opendays/general/index .php

She thinks her son might be lying to her and if so she wants to deal with this, so yes it it does matter even though the date has gone.
There was nothing on the news about it but tell her to phone the uni tomorrow and ask.

Blo8dy hell just ring the University lol
It depends which Campus she was supposed to be going to. I live in Stoke and drive past the Stoke Campus everyday on my way to work. It was very wet but by no means flooded. If it was the Stafford Campus, I have no idea.
i live near stafford uni and its on the top of a hill?
