My son is 8 and has trouble with his handwriting. He has had some private tuition (yes, it's that bad!) but it's not much better and I'm worried that it will hold him back as otherwise he is quite bright. Any ideas for self help books, learnign aids, web site etc.
Thanks in advance

don't stress - have you ever been able to read a doctor's handwriting? The only reason it could have a detrimental effect is at exam time. Perhaps if it is a recognised problem he'd be allowed type?
Both my sons (now 15 and 13) have terrible handwriting. My elder son gets round this by not doing joined up writing - it makes it so much easier to read!
I fully sympathise but disagree with whicker, if I was an employer and had to look at applicants writing and it was ineligable scrawl it would go straight in the bin.

My handwriting was poor and the only thing tha\t improved it was practice not my mum saying oh just type it instead. We are already becoming a nation of illiterates with text speak!!
Hi I am a primary school teacher and we have children with similar problems. There is a computer web site called Pimary Resources which gives some handwriting programmes for practive for key stage 1 and 2 children
Good luck.

hi everyone

Thanks for the advice, the web site is particularly useful. You might like to know he got his report today and under writing the teacher had said much neater. Either he's seriously got his act together or he's getting someone else to do his work!!
Thanks again
