I have a laptop with dual core and vista home premium.

Often when I am using Internet Explorer I lose everything and get a message "Internet Explorer has stopped working"

Why does this happen? I thought Vista has been well tested.

I had similar problems with IE under XP. IE is not the most reliable browser available. Have you tried Firefox? I don't honestly know whether it's compatible with Vista but one of the reasons I started using it (in XP) was because of the constant stream of patches I had to download & install for IE just to keep it working and "safe". Firefox has better features too, such as tabs. Try it and see if it solves your problem - just download it and set it as your default browser - you can easily uninstall if you're not happy with it.

Thanks for the reply. I have already installed Firefox. It has also crashed on me.

Problem I find with Firefox is that it keeps asking me to install Flash player despite the fact that I have done so many times. Vista seems to be the common factor.
had the same problem ,try a higher power setting .worked for me.

I thought Vista has been well tested.
A common misconception. You using it is pretty much MS's approach to beta testing.

Thanks for the suggestion Woolleysheep, but what is a 'higher power setting'?
Hi Dont despare I had the same problem.I found the answer from a screen which came up saying vista had no ted that Explorer had shut down many times on my comp.It then gave suggestions what might cause it.The most probable was an ADD ON.They say open Explorer click on tools right hand side at top,choose Manage add ons then choose disable.Do this till you are able to work on line OK.
If you have still got problem you click on tools then internet options then programmes now select manage add on and disable them all.If it works be careful when downloading add ons in future.THIS worked for me.

Since I posted my question I have had a memo from Skype saying that many Vista users have had what sounds like a similar problem. The solution is to download an upgraded version of Skype.

That was only a couple of days ago, but so far no crashes! So here's hoping.
