You don't hear much about sea serpent sightings these days, compared to the hundreds of reported sightings over the previous centuries. Are they still being seen?

These days, with the prevelance of camcorders and mobile phones with still photo and movie function, people expect photographic evidence.

As (presumably) there are no sea serpents to be seen and photographed, there are no reports of sightings.

Watched an interesting program on Sky recently about Oarfish, which can grow to up to 30-50ft long & weigh several 100lbs & can apparently swim in an "upright" fashion, one theory being that people seeing then swimming like this gave rise to the "sea serpent" myth
