My job entails constant walking both on concrete and granite tiles. I work a ten hour day, four days a week, with three breaks during my shift of 2-thirty minute and 1-fifteen minute breaks, which I normally take equally spaced over the shift. At the end of the day ,my feet are pretty sore,( I have been in the job eighteen months.)
My question is,what are the long term effects on my feet and legs? I am a fairly fit 57 years old male. Also, is there any legislation concerning the amount of hours somone should be walking on a constant basis during their shift of work? I walk approximately 17 miles per shift. Thank you.

You need to do the following:
See a chirpodist once every 6 weeks.
Wear leather shoes, with leather linings if possible. Plastic shoes are cheap and will last forever but they will destroy your feet, leather is less hard wearing and costs more but offers you comfort
take a change of socks and shoes to work every day and change them in your break.
Wear full leather insoles in all your shoes with charcole layers to absorb moisture and keep your feet comfortable.
Make sure you get off your feet for at least 15 minutes of each break, more if possible.
