A friend of mine died a few years ago. Although her service was held at a local crematorium, I cannot find a headstone / plaque there. I do not know her family to ask them. How can I find out where she is?

Hello misslideaway , if you know where the cremation took place and that the remains stayed in that area , you could go to the office at the crematorium and they will have a register with records of where the ashes were taken and a plot number if they are buried or placed somewhere . I hope find your friend . x
if someone is cremated there isnt always a place of burial.
yes, 4getmenot is right. my friend died last year and he was cremated and his parents didn't have a headstone for him, they scattered his ashes and are plannning on a bench in his memory near where he was killed x
I'm sorry to be a bit blunt and I'm not trying to sound harsh rom but wouldnt it be better being put near a place he went to and liked rather than being at a place where he died. I've never undrestood why people put flowers at crash sites, its where the person died and it also causes people to slow down and look making it more of a hazard
oh no, i know what you mean, its kind of in a field nearby. but i do know what you mean.
i hate the flowers thing aswell, it reminds me of dunblane 10 years ago and its just brings back horrible memories!! i think its a bit morbid putting flowers down and i dont really think it helps anyone.
My Dad was cremated in '94. We scattered some of his ashes around the shed in his garden & from Tower Bridge. The rest went into an oak box made by my nephew. This box was eventually put into my Mum's coffin when she passed away & was buried in '96.

We can all visit the grave, along with their photo's on it, knowing that although Dad was cremated, they both ended up 'together'.

(I want to be cremated too - don't like worms)!

If someone is cremated their ashes can also ne interred in concecrated ground, because someone chooses cremation rather than burial it does not exclude them from being buried in a plot in a Churchyard or being buried in an existing grave.
If your friend was buried with a relative or in the part of a graveyard consecrated and set aside for cremations, their record would be in the burial register at the Church. Often for practical reasons the funeral service is held at the Crematorium . It can be confusing, a funeral at a church is recorded but if the burial does not take place at the Church it is not included in the burial register.
