Just been given some Juniper Berries

What dish would you use them for ?

And do you just add them as they are ?
Or should they be crushed, chopped or what ?

I use them with venison, crushed and put in with the meat during the cooking time.

Juniper berries are used in northern European and particularly Scandinavian cuisine to "impart a sharp, clear flavour"[1] to meat dishes, especially wild birds (including thrush, blackbird, and woodcock) and game meats (including boar and venison).[8] They also season pork, cabbage, and sauerkraut dishes. Traditional recipes for choucroute garnie, an Alsatian dish of sauerkraut and meats, universally include juniper berries.[9]

Thanks bbwchatt I shall find something there I'm sure.

You are just the person I need to answer my next question

Can I just put a frozen chicken in my slow cooker and cook it ?
If so,how much extra time should I give It ?
dai - when I put a chicken in the slow cooker - I put it in there frozen - sprinkle some rosemary on it - put the lid on it and turn it to low heat. Depending on the size of the chicken, I leave it 6 - 8 hours - if it is a small chicken, I would leave it less than that.

bbwchatt, that's brilliant thank you !

I do admire your encylopedic knowledge of ingredients and cooking techniques.

I shall have to think up a really abstruse question to test you ;-)

They're used with duck quite a lot i think. Apparently they're good in a casserole. I used them with a chicken one but i didnt use enough and couldnt taste them! use more than 10 hole ones would be my advise then
