I do sympathise as had a right bad haircut once and had to have the lot lopped off.

Firstly, I would telelphone the hairdressers who did this and speak to the manager (and only the manager) and explain what has happened. If they've messed your hair up then they should put it right for free. But don't let the original person do it. I am not sure if you'll get a shampoo which will dull colour. If you're not comfortable with going to the hairdressers that mucked up your hair then get an appointment with your usual ones to rectify it. I think you'll have to have it professionally done to put it right.

I know it's easy for me to type and when you're really upset it doesn't matter what anyone says but try to think of it like this - it's something which can be fixed - it's probabaly very easily fixed if it has come out very light - and you may even like it more than you thought you would when it is fixed.

Go and wash your face and blow your nose and have a cup of tea and then get ringing around the hairdressers. :)

p.s I wouldn't put anything on it yourself prior to speaking to a hairdresser in case it makes it worse, good luck.
make sure you get your money back. It may be that you will have to dye your hair back to your original colour to cover it al up, give it a deep condition and leave it for a couple weeks before you highlight it again x

Just to say Thank you very much to nuoyg and sizzlesquid for your replies, your very kind. I went back to the hairdressers today (luckily it was raining so I hid my hair under the brolly!!), and I got my money back, she offered to put some fine brown streaks through my hair to tone it down but my scalp is so sore I said no, apparently because I was put under a dryer for half an hour with the foil tints on, the heat made the tint bubble, explode and leak onto the rest of my hair (great), I am getting used to it being very blonde but I still hate the orange and yellow stripes and dots!. Unfortunately my original hairdresser only specialises in blonde streaks so will not put in any low lights in for me, but I will wait till my scalp stops hurting and hopefully find a decent hairdresser to put a few dark streaks through my hair. I popped into toni and guy and they said my hair was repairable which has cheered me up a bit. Thank you nuoyg.
It must be very tempting but don't have any colour correction done until your poor scalp has healed.

In the meantime try to get hold of a shampoo by KMS called Colour Vitality Blonde Shampoo - or something similar. It's a blue shampoo and will help to tone done the colour a bit.
I know this is no consolation to you but I'm sure most of us have had horrendous hair problems - I have - but in time you do forget them.
