Do mobile speed vans operate whilst they are moving along (eg on the motorway) or do they only get you if they are parked up and stationary? I was with a friend in her car earlier today and she dorve past one a wee bit too fast. The van was travelling along the road too so i thought she might get away with it?

No they don't operate when moving.

Only Police vehicles fitted with VASCAR can clock speed when they are moving.
But they dom in other countries. was with a friend in Cologne who got flashed from a moving van - 100EUR or going 15 kph over the limit in the centre of town - it was a dual carriage way with lots of traffic light controlled intersections. The point is, if its there now, it might be here soon.
