I am about to buy a new VW Polo and have been offered the protection pack for it - pre-delivery hard wax of exterior stain guarded interior fabric, upholstery etc. Just wondered if anyone else had it and if so is if worth 299? It allegedly protects the paintwork better than standard waxing and doesn't need to be touched up. I am thinking of probably changing the car after the 3 year warranty expires (or possibly after about 2 years).

It's basically the same thing as Supagard which our valeters use and well worth doing.
It depends on whether you want to spend that sort of money, it's about the going rate.
Supaguard type tratments are worth doing

Probably not worth 299 though

Supaguard costs the dealer about 40-50 plus the extra payment for valeters and salesmans commission
Buy Autoglym liquid hardwax (used by the trade but you can get it on ebay) for the outside and polish it 3-4 times a year - it will gleam. Then either have an interior valet or use the vacuum cleaner and a duster with a suitable cleaner and of course some elbow grease.
i think 299 is a bit steep
Try negotiating a cheaper deal - unless you have already signed your name on the dotted line
