most of my friends are not hugely well off(so I wouldnt need to buy stupidly priced rubbish just to impress), I would probably spend between 80 to 100 pounds, its a special day and that would be a decent amount.
if its someone I dont know too well then up to 50 quid
I'd spend 50 if they were close friends! Why don't you ask other firends who are going and see what they say?

I'm getting married in September and I wouldn't expect anyone to be out of pocket just for the sake of buying us some fantastic gift. Besides, were asking for money! (we have lived together for 4 years and have a toaster, pots and pans, belnder, food processor etc etc etc!)
I agree with Leight0n.

I don't think there is any specific amount I would spend ~ it would depend on the gift list. If the couple were asking for cash gifts and they were close friends I would probably give around 50-100 depending on how close the friendship is.

We did the same, and our gifts ranged from 10 right up to 250..we didn't mind how small the gift was, it all went towards our honeymoon.

I went to two weddings last year and am going to one next month. All three couples have asked for cash gifts as all were co-habiting for a number of years.
