A comprehensive school has admitted using search wands (like those used at airports) to check pupils for knives and even mobile phones during exam periods. The head teacher claims that the parents and teachers favour the introduction. Do you think using metal detectors in schools is a good idea in preventing kids from bringing in weapons?

Yes definately, it's a really good idea especially for schools who have had problems with weapons in the past. Prevent rather than cure is the right attitude. Anything that keeps our kids safe is always a good thing especially as things like knives and guns are so easy for some people to get hold of. Thats my opinion anyway.
