Boris Gardner is Boris Gardner! He had a hit with I Want To Wake Up With You - a vocal reggae track in about 1986. Re. Elizabetan reggae - I can't remember which way round teh story goes, but I believe the early copies credited Byron Lee (?) as the artist - whether he was the artist, and Boris Gardnier wasn't (it was an instrumental unlike his later hit) or vice versa, I can't recall. I wasn't aware that it had anything to do with Everything I Own though - I'm mentally humming it now!): are you possibly confusing it with no.1 reggae versio of Everything ... bu Ken Booteh in 1974?
Sorry edna but Elizabethan Serenade is nothing at all like Everything I Own. Elizabethan Serenade is like a classical piece (wish I could whistle it over this message, but it was a well known tune). The credit to Byron Lee was on the discs pressed from its release in mid January 1970 until the chart of 28th February 1970. After that chart run, Boris had to wait 16 years for another UK hit.
Boris was with the Upsetters as a bass player and singer with Lee "Scratch" Perry. They did Elizabethean Reggea as a laugh in 1969. His current album I,m always thinking of you is great
