Greetings each!
I have been aware since late 2004 that a practising Taunton Vicar has been engaging with other men for sexual purposes in a well known "gay" cruising area near Taunton Market.
A friend of mine has witnessed him engaging in sodomy:
I have witnessed him apparently soliciting:
The Police are aware:
The Bishop of Bath and Wells is aware:
The late Bishop of Taunton was aware:
The present Archdeacon of Taunton is very much aware:
The Somerset County Gazette is aware:
The Western Daily Press is aware:
The News of the World is aware:
I have personally informed all the above of my suspicions. I have even dropped heavy hints to the vicar himself at his Church, but he denied any wrongdoing.
He has also denied any wrongdoings to his Church superiors, although he apparently admitted a "slight indescretion". This reeks of a cover-up!
No-one seems to want to do anything!
Someone needs to do something about this situation. I have a name, address, name of Church, details of two vehicles used, a pic of one of the vehicles parked in Priory Bridge Road car park and a few pix of the culprit "walking the route", including some taken last Saturday night!
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can put a stop to his illegal activities for good?
Cheers.

How about nipping into the toilets while the vicar is doling out his pastoral care with his kecks around his ankles, ignore what you see, and just say, "Oh hello vicar, I've been meaning to see you about an article for the parish magazine ...." and then when he picks his jaw from off the floor, I guarantee he will run after YOU and ask for, "a quiet word."
Hello Brenda
Theland, now that's funny. :o)
I'm pleased to see that most people are treating this posting with the contempt it deserves...............whether it is bogus or not !
However, I do agree that the Vicar is being a hypocrite. But I can't help thinking that if his Church wasn't so bigoted in the first place, he may have been able to serve his parish as an openly gay man.

Theland ! I truly like your last response - first smile of the morning !
Jack - We aim to please. Oops! That's what the vicar said!
I dont really get the hypocritical bit. Ok, I can concede that sex in public toilets is potentially socially immoral for anyone, whether it be man/man, woman/man, woman/woman.

Vicars across Britain are defying the Church of England's strict ban by Cannon Law on blessings for gay couples by presiding over hundreds of such ceremonies every year. Is this also hypocritical? Are people saying that individual vicars should not be allowed to be gay or recognise homosexual relationships? Os it is just that a gay person should not be allowed to be a vicar? Yes this might be what cannon law says, but it seems those who would rebuke this concept (anti-religious) are also admonishing the personal preferences of individuals who may be homosexual (religious or otherwise). Where is the freedom of choice and freedom of expression?

I would guess that should squidge come across a man with trousers around his ankles in a public toilet late at night that their intentions may be misconstrued.

It was me who used the word 'hypocrite' so I suppose I'd better explain why I said that.

As this man is married he is undoubtedly living a double-life; he is a respectable, married man and in his working-life he conducts the rites involved in hatches, matches and dispatches; in addition to standing in a pulpit and espousing the rest of his flock to follow a set of rules he declines to follow himself. He is being hypocritical and duplicitous with regard to his wife.
Even if he is 'liberal' in outlook and in his ministry the big book still says man-love is a no-no.
Spot on Jack. He's a sad case and needs some help. Who knows? If he was confronted by his deeds in a very public sort of way, he could become suicidal at the thought of losing everything, family, friends, social position etc. Who would want THAT on their conscience?
hi,
this is an age old predicament, (if that is the right word to use) in loose terms: the self or selfless, control or anarchy, religion or choice: or choice to religion, choice to non religion. is it the human predicament that from which we cant escape? so the moral questions are amusing as each individual has their own morality, an 'enforced' morality and free choice and humanity is humanity. is humanity captured in humanity? debate :)
What?????
In answer to jojojo......

Here we have a gay man (or perhaps he would be more comfortable as being described as a man-who-has-sex-with-other-men; "I'm not a poof but my boyfriend is........"), who has seen fit to marry a lady woman of the opposite sex.......so far so not-that-unusual. However, at some point (it doesn't matter whether this is before or after the marriage) he has taken up a calling and the very Book/manual to prescribe and proscribe the way in which he lives his life has many things to say which are contrary to the way in which he is conducting himself. Most importantly, to my mind, he is cheating on his wife. Even if she is turning a blind eye, she has tacitly agreed that she has married a man whose nature is contrary to that acceptable to the Church as it stands.

I cannot for the life of me conceive why anyone should wish to join the ranks of an organisation which stigmatises, patronises, persecutes and condemns the true nature of that person.

Just how many blacks were there in the KKK ?
Oh, where in the Q does it say he is married?
It doesn't. It's in squidgelet10's clarification on the first page:

"Additionally, the vicar concerned has been known to conduct a marriage service in his church on a Saturday afternoon, where he no doubt preached on the sanctity of marriage, and then to leave his own matrimonial home in the evening to seek sex with men."
