In one of the re runs on C4 of Ally MacBeal, they had John Cage dancing around to this song "Gimmie that gimmie that gimmie gimmie gimmie that, gimmie that thing gimmie that gimmie gimmie that gimmie that thing gimmie that..." you get the idea. It is sung by a woman and is a real upbeat fun track. Any clues as to what it is?

I'm pretty sure it was gimme dat ding by The Pipkins which got toNo.6 in March 1970.
Further to my first answer: The singer was Tony Burrows who never had a hit under his own name, he holds the unusual honour (you can look it up in the Guiness Book of Records) of having four records in the British Top Ten at once ' all under different names. The British session vocalist sang Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)," White Plains' "My Baby Loves Lovin'," the Pipkins' ridiculous "Gimme Dat Ding," and the Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand," all of which were big hits in both the US and UK in 1970.
