what is the best route to take from Birmingham? and with Wembley being a 'public transport only' on match days, which is the best choice to get the stadium? ant advise in time for the Cup Final on Saturday would be appreciated.

..... or if you must drive, go M40 and park at a station on the Metropolitan Line (Hillingdon, Ickenham, Ruislip or Eastcote) - see http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/tubestationcar parks/default.aspx
then get the train direct from there to Wembley Park.

DONT go down the M1, I gather there are bad road works around Luton.

Not sure if you have been to Wembley before but DONT try to get the car anywhere near Wembley it is a waste of time.

As mushroom says, park at one of the stations on the Metropolitan line and get the train.

After coming down the M40 it turns into the A40 just after Uxbridge. From the A40 you will see signs for Eastcote etc.

I used to live in Eastcote and I always remember fans strolling round the high street on Cup Final day wearing their teams shirts and scarves, filling in time till they got the train to Wembley.

There is a car park at Eastcote station but only 42 spaces, but there is another larger one just behind Budgens supermarket in the high street, about 200 yards from the station.

Rayners Lane station also has a fairly large car park, 263 spaces.

If you park at Eastcote or Rayners Lane (or any of these other stations nearby) make sure you get the Metropoliton line train NOT the Piccadily line train.

Both lines serve these stations but only the Metropolitan line goes to Wembley Park.

Brilliant! Thanks to both of you. I've a feeling getting though, that getting there will be one thing, getting away afterwards will be a nightmare!

Depends which team you support, and if your team has won the cup.

If you team has lost you will just want to get out of there as quick as possible, so the train station may not be too busy.

If you win, and hang around to watch them get the cup and parade it round the ground then it may be very busy.
