Hi my son's partner has a seat ibiza.A warning light that looked like an engine came up.She left it into the main dealer and was charged 100 for repair. The light came on again. She left it in again and this time they said it was the compression was not right and the cylinder head needed renewal at a cost of 600.The car is going OK.Can anyone tell me if it is alright for her to continue driving and ignore the light.Answers appreciated----James

well, the light coming on does mean there is a problem, the ecu unit detects the car has something wrong and it alerts in this way,the light will come on,i would take it to another garage and get a second opinion, but to be on the safe side i would not drive it ,in case the engine,if that is the problem, causes any more damage.
if its running ok it probably just needs the throttle body cleaning, common on VWs
