Hello everyone,
i have posted this as a few AB members have asked me to keep them updated on my mum's health.

Mum has had her scan results and she has Deep Vein Thrombosis is both legs. The docs said that they can treat her however, they can only administer a small amount of the drug in order to help dissolve the blood clots. They said that they have to be careful as the drugs thin the blood and as shes having chemo she may bleed internally.
It'll take a few months for her leg to 'deflate'.

I just can't believe mum's luck..as if she's not got enough on her plate already.. I am soo sick. I am still feeling sort of positive as I know mum's in the best place - hospital.

I am so worried incase the docs have to stop her chemo. I feel like this is such a set back.

Mum is so sad and fed up, quite rightly. She's so bored in hospital, she's only been in there since Tuesday evening.

I am at work today and I looked in the mirrow before and I look terrible. I look so tired my colleagues here at work all know about my situation. I think me being at work does help to distract my mind, as I am talking to people all of the time. At the moment I feel like the odds are stalking up on us even more now. I feel like this positiveness may run out..

Sorry to sound so sad..

Hello muchlove, Your poor mum sure is going through it,all you can do is try to keep her positive, I know it isn't going to be easy, but you must try to stay positive, and as you say she is in the best place, you must also remember you must look after yourself, you ,must try and get some rest and sleep, it is going to be a long job, but take each day as it comes and keep talking and trying to cheer each other up, don't forget you can mail me anytime you want to have a moan or a chat, take care and speak to you soon, Ray xx

Hi muchlove - I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum & hope that things improve for her & your family soon.

I remember when both my Mum & Dad were very ill in '94 & '96 & although I felt dreadful inside, not knowing what the future held, I tried to appear upbeat when I visited them.

I was also working at the time, so still looked smart & wore a little makeup when visiting, so they never saw the real 'inner' me. I also used to cry myself to sleep worrying about them, but tried never let them see that. It made them feel better too. (Easier said than done I know).

As Ray says, try to get some rest - a nice long scented relaxing bath each night might help you.

Good luck to you & your family.

My mum was in hospital for a few months recently, and it was very much a touch and go experience. Every day we kept on thinking that today would be the bad news. It is hard, it is stomach-wrenching and you find it difficult to cope everyday, but you must. You need to be positive in front of your mum at least to give her hope and something to look forward to whenever she sees you. Try to keep sadness and low morale outside of the hospital and use all the friends (and relations?) you have as support. Keep positive and optimistic with your mum and enjoy the moments with her as happy ones.
Hello muchlove, Please mail me as much as you want to, I will always reply to you, it will not upset me, my wifes treatment is finished, it just brings back memories, not good memories, but that is life, so if you want to chat, please remember I along with a few others will always respond, and you must remember to look after yourself, you are no good to your mum if you look ill, she will start worrying about you then, so as Octavius said, might be time for "Tears of a clown" stay happy while with her, you are bound to shed some taers when you are at home, take care muchlove and good luck, along with lots of love, Ray xxxx
Hi muchlove.
You and I really are going through the same thing at the same time. My dad just got out after spending almost three wekks in hospital during whch time they discovered a blot clot in his lung. Luckily , he hadn't started chemo at this point but they still had to be careful about what drugs they could give him. He starts intensive chemo next week - four days a week for up to eighteen weeks.

Wish I could cheer you up but I'm feeling pretty low myself. Last weekend when we loaded our five year old daughters into the car one of them said ' are we going to the hospital to visit grandad or the hospice to visit papa?' It just seems so unfair that this is a part of their lives now.
Anyway, I don't want to start myself off cause that won't do you any good. Listen to the good advice on here, know that your mum is being well looked after and keep thinking positive. My best wishes to all of you. x

Hi muchlove

So sorry to hear about your mum once again.

You probably feel like everything is going against you and your family right now and has been for the last few years.

Just please try and look after yourself as ray said as you'll only feel worse.

You know you can always come on hear and let out your feelings or emotions or talk to a friend instead of letting it all eat you up inside.

I know its easier said than done but we do have to stay focussed, hope for the best at this stage and believe that things will work out. Remain Strong.

Best Wishes and Love to you both at this difficulat time xxx
