Is anybody watching this programme? I get extremley upset when I hear about or see cases of animal cruelty and I'm sorry but these b!?*"!?s are a typical example of the filth that carry out these acts of utter cruelty. Some of them are oblivious to the crimes they are commiting. They say they love their animals, yet they dont even provide them with the basic care ie: cleaning, proper feeding and exercise etc. In this day and age people can still get away with treating animals this way. I'm glad the RSPCA exists, it's just a shame that sentencing cant be more harsh, like say the electric chair!!!

hi mountainboo, yes i saw most of that programme - it was upsetting in parts. the strange thing is that they can't see what they're doing worng - they're totally blinded.
i believe the rspca have recently had a new law passed with regard to prosecuting people who don't give basic good care to animals.

what did you think of the owl man? at least he seemed to let go a bit.

bring back dog licencing i say! the bottom line is, the government don't give a hoot about animals, they don't even fund the rspca. they're more interested in handing out pounds to bums and war. rant rant....!
Yes i saw it! I love my animals as much as that woman said she did but id NEVER treat them that way! They are crazy old ladies who shouldnt be allowed ANY animal!
The new Animal Welfare Bill (brought in by the government, not the RSPCA) now has a duty of care to provide animals with what they need to lead normal healthy lives. This includes food and water, shelter, company if appropriate and treatment if necessary.

This means that people can now be prosecuted BEFORE an animal becomes a cruelty case, whereas before they had to be seen being ill treated or be in such a bad way that they had to be taken from their owners.

Hopefully this will allow more scope for people to be encouraged to look after their animals properly and if they don't they will suffer the consequences.
I watched it & the old lady really upset me when she hit the dogs with her stick, if she cannot control them, then she should not be allowed to keep them.
Beg your pardon Lankeela - I should have said that the rspca has campaigned tirelessly for years to push the government to introduce a law that ensures animals have good basic care - but it would have been irrelevant to the thread - pedantic as always.
