hi,
the funny thing is..i parked my car in a no parkin zone..asked my friend to sit in the drivers seat and went to get chips and askd him to call me if there is any problem..the cops came from behind in the car and askd my friend to move the car thinking he was the owner. he got down from the car and told the officer the owner is in the shop..i came and when the cops askd me to move the car i made the mistake of sitting in the passenger seat while my friend moved the car just 10 yards to a proper parkin place..i showed all my valid docs which was ok for me..but my friend was arrested for drivng without insurance..the fact is he refused to move the car when the cops askd him and after i came when the cops askd us to move because it was obstructing the traffic behind we did. now i have got a fixed penalty notice which is ok..my friend was let go beecause he is leaving the country for good without any fines..but the cops told me i will get a letter and have to go to court for expalning why he drove the car without insureance..is this a fact..this was a genuine case of mistake..

No it wasn't a mistake.

Your friend knowingly and willingly drove your vehicle without insurance - Tough !!

You got in the passenger seat when you should have drove - tough.

You parked in a zone which you shouldn't have. That zone is there for a reason.

Again tough !

Expect no sympathy - do stupid things and expect the consequences.

so will i the owner and insurer get into trouble for this..my friend was let go as he said he is leaving the country for good???
Yes you will.

The owner is always responsible for the vehicle - and you allowed an uninsured person to drive.

what am i looking at..the cop said i will get a letter and have to go to court..but my friend was let off..is this a fact..am i looking at any fines..
From the Crown Prosecution Service:

Offences of causing or permitting the uninsured use of a vehicle should be regarded as being as serious as using a motor vehicle without insurance.

Points and a fine, probably.
