I have an item that only has a car charger plug on it.
I would like to use it inside the house - is there any way the lead can be fitted with a normal household plug?

it appears to have only 2 wires, but how would i know which goes where?
i assume they would represent the blue and brown but
i haven't cut the charger off yet just in case it can't be done, so i can;t check the colours.

any ideas?

(or can you buy adapters for this?)

thanks

Im not 100% if you can get adapters BUT don't plug this into the mains. Your cigarette lighter works on 12vdc mains on 230vac. In other words: BOOM!

You can buy 12v power supplies from B&Q etc but then you'd have to wire the item to it. not very practical!
You could also wire it in to a car battery charger plugged into the mains as this only gives out 12 volts
buy a transformer/regulated power supply unit
