Does maximise mean to make it bigger

Yes the middle box to the top right of any window means to maximise i.e make bigger, it will expand the current window to the size of the screen.

This wont do this everytime you start the program though. Dragging the corners of the window will save that position for the next time you start the program.

for example, internet explorer will normally start in a small window. Move it up to the top left part of the viewable area of the screen (line the corners up) an then drag the bottom right corner to the bottom right part of the screen and then Internet explorer will always start in that position.

This works for nearly every program on windows.
