Moving an established Lilac Tree & Lilley of Valley

Were planning some building work done and need to loose a small area which has
About 5ft Lilac Tree and some Lilley of Valley.
I am a novice/newbie gardener.
When is the best time to move?
What is the process?
Please help becase the other half wants to just bin it.

Hi sunflower71 I would wait until autumn time when things are just going dorment.
I moved a lilac tree in the autumn after seeking advice from my gardening expert cousin. It took O.K. in fact it looked healthier. good luck
