If you'd consider bungalows, instead of caravans, you ought to try Potter's Leisure Resort, here in sunny East Anglia. They offer a wide range of activities for all ages but, if you want to leave the site, you've got loads of attractions, around Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, only a few miles away:

I have stayed here, a Haven park called Hafan y Mor.

It is in North Wales, it is a large park (but not overcrowded)
and has loads of facilities. There are caravans AND chalets.

They also offer half board if you want that.

There is a large swiming complex, and a number of buildings with evening entertainment which cater for kids and adults.

It is in a beautiful area of North Wales. It is on the Llyn Peninsula and near the Snowdon National Park for those that may want to go off site.

Why not send away for a brochure from Haven, Pontins etc (or pick one up from a travel agent).

btw These places are not cheap in August so I think you will find it costs more than you expect.
Haven sites are large but well managed and there's lots to do. We stayed at a Parkdean site in Devon - Croyde Bay which is an outstanding park, in a beautiful location. Not cheap in August though but see the Parkdean website for prices.

A word of advice - avoid Pontins parks. They're awful, cheap and nasty. Hemsby is one of their parks and my wife went with the kids a while back and lasted one night.
