iv suffered with bad period pain since i was about 14 (10 yrs now), been to doc with it several times, always just gave me mefanamic pain killers and sent me home. im not on the pill at present as i keep forgetting to take it but it did help. i usually do be crippled over and crying from the pain, very nauseaus and sometimes throw up. i am now being sent for an ultrasound as a precaution, but it is unlikely to be endometritis (doc said). was wondering what else i could take for the pain and also how much do ultrasounds cost if i go public (living in Dublin). thanks for any help!

You have my total, total sympathy. I have really bad periods and have ben scanned for enodmetriosis and I haven't got it. Tried mefenamic acid (useless) and Tranexamic acid (also useless) and I was tried on the pil but my body really didn't take to any of them and it made me really depresssed so had to stop. Sorry to say so but the only thing that works for me is prescription only high stregth codeine and paracetamol. It really knocks you out, and you feel strange because you know the pain is still there but you can't feel it. Speak to your dodctor and just ask for painkillers! Make sure you remember to drink lots of water pre- pelvic ultrasound!
Feminax is wonderful - it makes you feel a bit drunk so you should nt drive
it sounds to me like you do have endometritis and the only thing that helped me was the implant as it stopped my periods for 3 whole wonderful years!!
other than that or getting pregant ( which i dont recommend) i dont know what else you can try!!
as for the cost ive no idea but bupa would be able to give you a cost???
good luck xxxx
