bank holidays

Following on from Skids Q ; personally I would like CHristmas Day to be a bank holiday - at the moment it is the nearest Monday - Friday whenever it falls on a weekend.
As thousands of us work shifts over 7 days, either in factoriea , emergency services or whatever, it would be nice to at least have Bank Holiday pay and conditions for the 25 December if we are rostered to work.
Rant over folks, but interested to hear your views.
