I have a rather old Worcester Heat Slave boiler. Lately when I turn on the heat or hot water, there is a bit of a delay before it ignites and when it does it is louder. The other day it made a real 'boom' noise...i find this a bit scarey. Yet when I foned 2 different service engineers they didn't seem to think it was worth their while to come out...should I be worried?

pastafreak,
The name given to your boiler problem is explosive ignition, and the most likely cause of this is that the pilot is smaller than it should be ( possibly through lack of servicing on an annual basis ).
It is not a problem that should be ignored. If you can't get a local corgi registered engineer to call, contact Worcester Bosch Heating.
Hope this helps.

Thankyou pilotlight.....the engineer I spoke to this am implied that it would be a waste of his time and my money if he had to sit and wait for the boiler to 'perform' as so far it is an intermitant problem
