I have just been offered the chance to join a " holiday club". From what I understood, all I have to do is give them 5 grand upfront, 59 a year and I will save approx 60% on my holidays thereafter. It is a lifetime membership that can be handed down to my daughter. My family and friends can also benefit from this offer which can be used as many times as I like. Sounds to good to be true ! Has/ Does anyone have anything to do with this company. Is it as good as it sounds? TIA

You've been offered the scam that's replaced timeshare now that's so heavily regulated they can't get away with it any more.

The main thing that's not true there is that you will not save 60% on holidays - you will pay the same, probably more, as you would in a travel agent.

Don't touch it with a barge pole. It would be cruel to the barge pole.
Believe the previous answer in full. It's the biggest scam going at present flights alone can cost you more that a holiday to the same place
You also say it is a lifetime membership, but what if the company goes bankrupt the day after you join.

"lifetime" means nothing when the company could go under at any time.
You will also find that maintanance costs are greater than 59/yr, you can only book a wek in the low season, you have to arrange flight & transport, you will need to use taxis or hire a car as the resort is a long way from the beach, the restaurant in the resort is expensive etc.....
You have headed your question rci - this is the name of a fairly respectable timeshare exchange company. If it is them, then this is not a scam. It is probably rci points, which is a slightly different system to that referred to in other answers. That said, I still wouldn't go for it, and I am a reasonably satisfied member of rci exchange. Think how many holidays you could have for the money you will spend on this. And I think your costs will be significantly more than 59 per year. This will just be your membership. You will then perhaps be charged service fees (say 250+ per year) and weekly charges of about 100 per week. It is possible you will not get much change out of 500 per annum if you use it fully. If it is that company, check all the facts and then don't do it. If it isn't them, run a mile!!
It sounds two good to be true! When things sound two good to be true THEY ARE! DONT DO IT.

Thanks, pretty much the answers I expected.
RCI in themselves are not that bad a company. However they are marketed somewhat creatively by loads of unauthorised and semi-authorised scamsters who charge well over the odds.

If you hear the words 'Holiday Club' run a mile. No, two.
I have worked at Anfi Del Mar a highly respected timeshare development here in Gran Canaria. Holiday Clubs have one reputable one in my book, and that is Club Class, as we had members of Club Class stay at Anfi, and they did not have to own Anfi to stay there. Any other hol club is to be avoided. They offer no more than you can gain yourself; by determined research online. Your 5k goes straight out in profit taking and commissions. Your 'maintenance fee' maintains nothing, it's another annual membership charge. The bottom line is, that they have people on the net (if you are lucky) finding holidays for their 'members' and that you can do all by yourself!
DONT BE TAKEN IN BY THIS SCAM, in a nutshell dont do it, walk away now whilst you still can.
