STOP light and overheat light

this light keeps coming on and off on my dashboard but the needle on the gauge is in the right zone...and the water level in the cooler thing is ok

it sort of flickers on, at random times then goes off and everything is fine again.

i have had the original problem seen to twice - there was a leak in the radiator cooler thing.

could this just be an electrical fault with the led lights or something more?

it just seems odd that it doesn't stay on and the readings don't tally

thanks

Out of the same parts bin then! It's a connection fault: basically just check/clean the connections.
But is it the overheat light or actually the coolant level light that's coming on? This is a prime candidate for nuisance flickers and it's caused by dodgy connections to the sensor which is halfway down the side of the radiator if my memory serves me.

hi
it is the coolant temperature gauge - according to the book either means overheat or loss of coolant... but the needle is in the normal range - the centre - its just the light that comes on, along with th stop light

but i have topped it up and there is plenty in there.

any ideas how i do this? is it something i could do myself? i have a haynes manual.

thanks
