Everybody knows there are 50 states of America, but does anyone know how many counties of England there are and what they are?

Oh dear. Whatever happened to Tyne & Wear, and Teesside ? Isn't Avon a county too ?

I agree Scylax, also Rutland is listed as the smallest county but I thought that hadn't existed since 1974!

Not sure where Hereford is. Is in Worcestershire, or Herefordshire or is it now called Hereford & Worcestershire?
