I have one of these Orange Livebox thingies which I have my main desktop PC wired to for Broadband Internet. Its also a wireless gateway. I have a problem connecting my laptop to it wirelessly in that it won't detect the wireless signal from the Livebox. I also have a PSP which I have managed to connect once, so I know that I have the right settings, but it finds it very difficult to detect the Livebox as well. While I was trying to connect the laptop and PSP to the Livebox it was never more than 3 unshielded feet away. What's wrong with it?

Is the wireless function enabled on your laptop? On my Dell laptop I can disable / enable the wireless function by pressing Fn and F2. Also, have you used the set-up wizard on the CD that came with the Livebox?

Yes, the laptop will pick up wireless networks in the neighbourhood but not my Livebox which is two feet away. The Livebox is showing me that its wireless is on, which I know is right because my PSP connected once upon-upon-a-time and still occasionally picks up fleetingly but not long enough to connect.
I've done the wizard but you don't really need it for wireless connection if you've got XP, which I have, which the Livebox Help tells you as well.
