Has anyone used a publication called the St. Catherines House Index? I am trying to trace a family member and I want to trace the marriage. If you have, how does it work? Is information just listed in chronological order? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

St Catherines House is the building the General; register Office index was located in during the 1980s and into the 1990s, it then went to the Family registry building, the index you mean is the General register Office index of births deaths and marriages (and sundry categories) that began in July 1837 and is an index by surname of all events recorded by the local register offices of england and wales./Yes it does work all you need is the surnames and Christian names of the parties and an approximate date and location, though location is not exactly a priority, you can search the index free at
ancestry.co.uk
if you are having trouble working out how the index works, email me at [email protected] and i can have a look for you.

Thank you for your help. I managed to find some details from your information but am still not all the way. I think I need to use a people finder web site. I've tried to use b4usearch, but they are updating their records. Thanks again.
