I have a rover metro automatic 1.4....it is 8-10 years old.
I am trying to replace its starter motor.
I have removed all securing bolts, the solanoid is attached and should come away with it.
The problem is, dispite the fact all mounting bolts are removed...the starter motor won't budge from the transmition.
I have tried to persuade it with a little force by applying some moderate blows with a hammer.....even then... there is no movement what so ever to indicate it wants to come away
Would appreciate any idea's.

it sounds like the starter is stuck extended out . try to spray the starter where it mates to the engine with wd-40 give it a few minutes to work in and hit the starter up/down or/and left/right .
