Green names, abbreviations and other stuff?

Would it be a good idea to explain about green names, report buttons, abbreviations and other stuff like that in a sort of "Welcome to the Site" page when people register to save newbies from having to learn the hard way or post questions that we've all replied to time and time again?
Phew - my fingers are out of puff - that was a LONG sentence!
Or would it deprive ABer's from welcoming newbies to the site and thwart us of the chance to inflict our warped senses of humour on them?

kempie's right, of course, it's available on site if you snuffle around. And yet, yes, why not include this sort of basic stuff in a welcome email when people first register? Not a bad idea
