You know when you put something down on your desk, like a pen, then when you go to reach for it its not there. You look all around and cant find it, then a few minutes later, as if by magic, it reappears, WTF is that all about. I have just put my lighter down and now its not there, do any of you lot have it?
I would suspect that the mushrooms concealed underneath the National Geographic magazine in your left-hand drawer might be a significant factor regarding these bizarre happenings.
I once watched an episode of the Twilight Zone about these little invisible people who build time and sometimes they left something out like your pen, which explains why its not there when you look for it. They then realise their mistake and build it into the next time segment hence the pen returning, perhaps the Twilight Zone hit on something there!
You may have a point Champagne, but I believe it is something more sinister like evil pixies playing tricks, thats my very non-scientific explanation, but then again I am bonkers so my explanation can be competely discounted!!
shineybomb, underpant gnomes, I like it, the little sods are everywhere. Found the lost lighter from last night, it had been surreptitiously placed under a cd, now I know I didn't do that, why would I lift a cd then hide my lighter from myself, I wasn't playing cd's either, it was the underpant gnomes, I am sure of it now.
Perhaps you've got the same problem as my sister.
She had some stuff go missing like that and she told me (and this is true) that she was a bit worried she had those "polkadot" ghosts in the house.
Champagne, PMSL, can you book me in for a transplant, my only condition is that it is not the brain from another Aber, I would like an upgrade this time around!!
The answer is quite simple, basically there is a slight tear in the space-time continuam, this causes a ripple in space and time which causes objects to disappear from one time, into space and reappear in the same space after a little time.
However, this could lead to a massive hole in the fabric of the universe, which in extreme cases would make space + time collide, causing the entire universe to collapse in on itself so that it ends up about the size of a matchbox. but dont worry, this can only happen if an object capable of holding a naked flame were to vanish, something like a lighter, or a gas cooker.
I knew watching all those episodes of red dwarf would come in handy one day
BTW have you found your lighter yet?
johnlambert, yes lighter has turned up safe and sound but not where I left it.
AGGGHHHHHHHHH, the cooker has gone!!! Better get the DeLorean out of the garage, fill the flux capacitor with plutonium, how else will I generated the 1.21 gigawatts of power needed.
Gonna get that cooker back and save the universe and make mrwarpigs dinner too.
