Hello Mrs Elderly I think you have given the clue for 1a and your letters for 1d so I am giving you both answers.

Best wishes

The clue you need is;- Cot bound wish for treatment ? Typical of Dr Finlay to speak comfortingly (12) 3 words.

Yes you are quite right 'K' my mistake. 'C' asked me to do 1D and I did 1A like you say. He has already got the answer to 1A . I really think I am losing it these days!! Very many thanks.
I'm glad that is sorted.

As you have not asked about this week's Mephisto I assume that Mr E has successfully completed it, but I just thought I would mention that Tim Moorey, the setter, has told me that he was very nervous about clueing a single word in four different ways.
He says it is the first time he has ever done it and believes it is the first time ever.
He has had a positive feedback and I think he is to be congratulated on the ingenious use of a difficult word in four places in the grid.

Hope Mr E is well. K
