Our Salter electronic kitchen scales just appear to have packed up. We've changed the battery but still no response. Is there anything else we can do, or do the electronics on these devices just pack up after a few years?

could be a loose conection try shaking them gently and if you can get hold of the wire atatched to battery point give that a push (gently!!!!!)
